Sweet Night

Sweet Night

Sweet Night—

Your glow,

Your calm breaths

Go beside me

Like stars to darkness.

Sweet Night—

Bright black,

Digest me

Before blinding light

Does us part again.

No one calls me to bed;

But the first verse heard of

The earliest birds, cold

Rubber rousing the road

From its twilit silence,

And then sirens of lies

Arising in the air

Remind me when its time

To submit to despair—

Until the next sunset:

Dream bright, my sweet, Sweet Night.
